Exclusive Auction of Custom Fiat 500e Electric Cars by Armani, Bvlgari, and Kartell at Art Basel Miami Beach 2023 to Support Environmental Nonprofit

On December 7, a unique opportunity unfolds at Art Basel Miami Beach 2023 as three distinct Fiat 500e vehicles, crafted in collaboration with iconic Italian brands Armani, Bvlgari, and Kartell, go under the hammer at an undisclosed location. The auction, spearheaded by celebrated charity auctioneer Simon de Pury, aims to raise funds for an environmentally-focused nonprofit, with an online catalogue and absentee bidding accessible in advance at de-PURY.com.

FIAT’s commitment to sustainability takes center stage as it collaborates with renowned Italian brands from diverse sectors—fashion design, furniture design, and luxury. Olivier Francois, CEO of FIAT and Global Chief Marketing Officer of Stellantis, emphasizes the rarity of such collaboration, stating that these bespoke vehicles not only embody art and style but also carry a vital eco-friendly message. The specific nonprofit to benefit from the auction’s proceeds will be disclosed after the event.

This philanthropic initiative aligns with FIAT’s broader strategy, coinciding with the imminent launch of the all-electric Fiat 500e, Stellantis’ inaugural electric vehicle offering in North America. The Fiat 500e, positioned as a revolutionary electric city car, not only democratizes electric mobility but also transforms the purchasing experience. This endeavor contributes to the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, targeting a 50% mix of battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in the United States and 100% BEV sales in Europe for passenger cars by 2030. Stellantis aims to achieve carbon neutrality, encompassing all scopes, by 2038.

The auction, conducted by Simon de Pury, provides a platform for art enthusiasts and automotive connoisseurs alike to engage in the event. An online catalogue on the de PURY platform, launched on November 28, enables remote participants to register for pre and absentee bidding, granting them access to online and telephonic bidding before the live auction.

Expressing his excitement, Simon de Pury describes the Fiat 500 cars as “stunning and beautiful works of art on wheels.” He emphasizes the significance of the entire auction proceeds supporting environmental initiatives, underlining his commitment to philanthropy. Simon de Pury’s illustrious career as an auctioneer, art dealer, curator, photographer, and DJ has left an indelible mark on the art world, earning him the moniker “the Mick Jagger of auctions.” Beyond his auctioneering prowess, de Pury has played a pivotal role in raising billions for charities and cultural institutions, mentoring contemporary artists, and curating influential exhibitions.

Simon de Pury’s multifaceted contributions to the art world extend to his roles as the former chairman and chief auctioneer of Phillips de Pury & Company, former Europe chairman and chief auctioneer of Sotheby’s, and former curator of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. In 2021, he launched de PURY Presents, a groundbreaking exhibition series collaborating with international artists in their studios, followed by the introduction of the innovative online platform de PURY in 2022.
