ISUZU Donates Three D-MAX Bakkies to Gift of the Givers for Critical Disaster Relief

Gqeberha – ISUZU Motors South Africa proudly presents three new ISUZU D-MAX bakkies to the humanitarian aid organization Gift of the Givers, reaffirming its dedication to enhancing vital disaster relief efforts in challenging and remote locations across South Africa.

This handover marks the continuation of a partnership initiated in 2019, where a total of three ISUZU D-MAX bakkies and three ISUZU trucks were provided. These vehicles have been instrumental in offering Gift of the Givers crucial logistical support for their humanitarian and disaster relief missions, often reaching communities in difficult terrain.

The ISUZU D-MAX bakkies, renowned for their solid performance, fuel efficiency, and reliability, will enable Gift of the Givers teams to access and assist areas that pose challenges.

In 2019, ISUZU donated three water tankers, still in use today (two 7500 liters and one 5000 liters), aiding in supplying water to drought-stricken areas like Makhanda, Graaff Reinet, Somerset East, Alice, and Fort Beaufort, transporting an average of 250,000 liters of water per month.

ISUZU Motors South Africa’s Senior Vice President, Human Capital and Corporate Affairs, Mongezi Hermans, stated, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to taking action and making a positive impact in uplifting vulnerable communities. Our collaboration with Gift of the Givers reflects the core team values of our organization and has significantly expanded our ability to rapidly respond to our communities when they need it most.”

This partnership has been instrumental in supporting Gift of the Givers’ disaster relief efforts, reaching provinces affected by floods and drought, including Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.

Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman, Founder of Gift of the Givers, expressed gratitude, saying, “These vehicles are lifelines, serving as critical logistical tools, especially in mobilizing our teams to reach communities situated in challenging terrains. Our partnership with ISUZU is invaluable.”

ISUZU had previously provided three D-MAX bakkies and three trucks to Gift of the Givers to aid communities in distress.
