FORGING NEW ADVENTURE TRAILS THIS FESTIVE SEASON

In a nod to the iconic Peugeot 404 and 504, the Landtrek bakkie from Peugeot emerges as a robust and capable vehicle, capturing the attention of enthusiasts and embodying everything needed for an adventurous journey.

Across the diverse landscapes of Africa, where savannas meet wilderness, a reliable workhorse stands strong—the Peugeot Landtrek, echoing the legacy of its predecessors like the Peugeot 203, 403, 404, and 504 bakkies. These vehicles were more than mere transports; they became symbols of resilience in Africa’s harshest terrains, earning the moniker “Lion of Africa.”

Decades later, Peugeot re-enters the bakkie market with the Landtrek, inheriting the DNA of its ancestors. This double cab vehicle, born from a rich legacy, attracts enthusiasts with a compelling value proposition.

Deidre du Plessis, Head of Corporate Communications at Stellantis South Africa, notes, “The Landtrek strikes a balance between fuel efficiency and meeting consumers’ needs and passions.” The 1.9-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine boasts 110kw and 350Nm of torque, offering an impressive 8.9l/100km fuel efficiency for the Allure 4×2 and 9.1l/100km for the 4action 4×4.

Designed for diverse outdoor experiences, the Landtrek accommodates sizable loads with its spacious loadbed, ideal for adventures ranging from off-roading to cross-country road trips. Its capabilities extend off-road with features like a 235mm ground clearance, 600mm wading depth, and advanced traction options.

The Landtrek’s architecture optimizes off-road attributes, ensuring favorable approach and departure angles. Technological advancements include a 10-inch multimedia screen with integrated cameras for urban and off-road navigation. The 4action 4×4 version features a 360° off-road camera for conquering obstacles.

Peugeot’s commitment to South Africa is evident, with a planned R3 billion investment for a manufacturing facility in Coega. The Landtrek is set to be locally manufactured in 2026, supporting over 1,000 jobs and emphasizing Stellantis’ dedication to sustainability.

In conclusion, du Plessis emphasizes, “The Peugeot Landtrek seamlessly connects the past and present, marrying the heritage of legendary off-road vehicles with modern innovations. It symbolizes endless possibilities in the pursuit of new horizons—an adventure vehicle that transcends its mechanical nature.”
